Weight Loss with Running?
a cool dude asked:
i am a 19 yr old male 5 foot 6 152 lbs
i work out 4 times a week for an hour and a half, all my meals are strictly protein and i run after each workout for 1.5 miles - 3.0 miles depending on my energy. will i lose my size with all that running? i am cut but want to get more cut and running seems to be the key, i am just afraid i am going to lose my size )ex. chest shoulders biceps,i spent a year trying to bulk up and dont want to get all tiny again. is running that 1.5 to 3 miles a day good or bad?

No its good to run you use all your musels and your not going to get small over night.Just keep eating the way you are.and some fat is fine.Just have to keep up the heavy weight to stay the way you want.

Instead of running all of that long time, I would try interval training. You can perform this on a non lifting day or right after your workout. First, start out with a good 5 minute warm-up and some stretching. Then on a 1-10 difficulty run on a 9 difficulty scale (hard breathing, cannot carry on a conversation) for 1 minute, then run for 3 minutes on a 5-6 scale (about 50% of your speed). Repeat for 3 times. Cool down for 5 minutes and do stretches. You can increase the difficulty by running faster or running at an incline. After this becomes not so hard you can do this 4 - 6 times.

I ran cross country for four years and yes running is good for you to become more ‘cut.’ It will help you reduce your body fat. If you take in more carbohydrates you will have more fuel for running and burn it off anyway. If you don’t have enough to run on your body will start to use protein as energy instead of building muscle. If you are running solely to get cut it would be beneficial to running slower than you may think because the faster you run the more carbohydrates are burned and less fat is burned and it is easier to run slowly. 3 miles burns the same amount of calories whether you do it in 15 minutes or 45. Also, continue to lift to keep muscle.

No running willl help you get cut, it should strenghten your core and chest. This may help to lose body fat, but not muscle as long as you eat rightl. The person that said running 3 miles in 15 mins burns the same amount of calories as 45 mins is wrong though.
