Gete Wami Heads to London
Ethiopia's Gete Wami, the Berlin champion and New York City runnerup in 2007, will be in the Flora London Marathon on April 13 against Berhane Adere, her compatriot and the reigning Chicago Marathon winner, and Constantina Tomescu-Dita of Romania and Russia's Svetlana Zakharova.
On April 21, Robert Cheruiyot will try to become the first Kenyan to win four Boston Marathons; his rivals include Chicago Marathon champ Patrick Ivuti, former Boston winner Timothy Cherigat, and Stephen Kiogora, all of Kenya. Boston's women's field is led by defending champion Lidiya Grigoryeva of Russia, 2007 runnerup Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia, and past Boston titlists Margaret Okayo and Rita Jeptoo, both of Kenya.
